Been A Long Time

Wow, it’s been years since my website has been updated.  I almost can’t believe I finally got around to it.  Well, truth be told Shawn McNulty got around to it.  And not without some pushing and shoving to ME, to get my images in order.  Thanks, Shawn.  I like the WordPress format.  Especially that I can update it myself instead of having to send my images to the people who have designed my site in the past.  All the images that appear on this site are as current as it gets.  I thought about doing an archive section to showcase past works, but then decided to focus on the work I’m doing now instead.  These paintings are all  brand new, and scheduled to be shown at Rosalux Gallery in January of 2012, and again at the Bloomington Art Center in Early spring of 2012.  I’m very excited about the work.  Anyone who knows me as an artist will recognize it as my own, but I feel like I’m going in a new direction with minimal realism objects and more texture/collage imagery in the background.  I’ve also changed my palate quite a bit.  I’ve gone much darker with the backgrounds, which I think look beautiful in real-life, but make the work incredibly hard to photograph.  No matter how I angled the work, I couldn’t get rid of the glare.  Photoshop helped me tone it down a bit to make the images tolerable.  Ah, well.  I suppose artwork should look better when you are standing right in front of it anyway.  So, here goes.  Thanks.
